The Cotton Lace Wide Pants

Wide-leg pants cut from India cotton, with panels of lace running down the leg and a scalloped edge at the hem. Fully lined in the same cotton, so the lace reads as texture rather than transparency.

The waist is elasticated the whole way round — they pull on, they sit where you put them, and they do not dig in after lunch. The leg is wide without being heavy, and the scalloped hem keeps the shape from looking solid.

Two easy ways to wear them: with a plain tee tucked in, or under a longer dress so only the lace hem shows.

The lace is worked in two different patterns across the leg — a detail you notice up close, and the reason these take longer to make than a plain wide-leg. Made by hand in India in a short run, which is why there are only a few of each colour.
